Work Experience

From Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July year 10 students went on work experience. It was a great chance for students to get an insight into an industry and the workplace of their choice. It allowed them to find out skills employers look for when hiring someone to fill a job vacancy, gave them the opportunity to develop self-confidence and communication skills, allowed them to see the daily requirements of the job, find out information about the organisation, its purpose, size and number of employees, the opportunity to talk to various people about their roles and responsibilities within the organisation, find out about career pathways within the industry and encouraged thinking about subject choices for Year 11 and  possible study courses at tertiary level.

Some of the workplaces experienced by our students were:

Alfred Psychiatry, Allistair Pharmacy, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Cricket Victoria, Duchess Anne Patisserie,  GardenVale Dental, Melbourne Zoo, Monash Medical Centre and Ruby Entertainment just to mention a few. Feedback from the employers was positive and students enjoyed their time at their placements.

BSC A Capella group 'Minitonic'
Minitonic performed at the Inner South East Partnerships Assembly for the Department of Planning and Development in August. They performed with so much professionalism and poise, and as a result, have been invited by the Mayor to perform at the next Citizenship Ceremony in October.  This is a huge honor and we are very proud of the group and their voice teacher Ms Bradsworth!
