Highlights and Achievements for 2016

The VCE results were very good, with the following outcomes:

• 162 students successfully completed their VCE.
• 27% (44) of our students attained an ATAR of 80 or higher, placing them 20% above the average across the state.  The state average was an ATAR of 65.
• 19 (12%) students attained an ATAR of 90 or better, nine of these were part of our SEAL cohort.
• There were 58 study scores of 40 or better.
• 4 of our International student cohort attained an ATAR of 85 or better, with 1 of those attaining 95 or better... which is a stunning achievement given that English is not their first language. 8 international students achieved an ATAR of 80 or higher.  Maybe replace with:  (4 of our International Student cohort attained an ATAR of 85 or better, with one of those attaining better than 95 …….which is a stunning etc.)
• Jack Zezula was named Dux of the college.
• Andia Meybodi Year 10, 2016, was awarded the prestigious Kwong Lee Dow, Scholars Award.

We organise College tours for your convenience to see the College in action – these require a booking. Tour dates are published on our website in Term 1 of each year, and are co-ordinated around College activities to ensure the least disruption to our current students, whilst giving a full College experience. College Tours are the best source of information for potential students and their parents/guardians.

Local Students
Due to the high level of demand to fill the limited places at our College, we have been classified as a Secondary College with neighbourhood boundaries. All students residing within our boundaries are guaranteed a place at BSC. The Boundary Map can be viewed here

College handbooks are located on our website under the Junior and Senior School tabs. The handbooks list the subjects and curriculum offered by BSC at each specific year level. Junior School covers Years 7-9 and Senior School covers Years 10-12.

For an overview of what our College has to offer please view our General Information Booklet.

Enrolment into Year 7
Student placements are co-ordinated between the Primary School and Secondary College. This process occurs April to May of the year when your child is in Grade 6. Parents work with their Primary School Transition Co-ordinator for the enrolment process until the offers are made. The timeline is determined by the Department of Education and Training, and places are usually offered at the end of August to early September.

Enrolment into Years 8-12
Parents contact the College Registrar directly for an Expression of Interest Form. Those students residing within our boundaries are guaranteed a place. If places are available we may be able to offer to students who reside outside our boundary, however, there is no guarantee. Interviews are conducted for every new student enrolling at the College, whether you reside in our boundary or not. Successful applicants will be issued enrolment papers after the interview.

Placements are based on the residential address at the time of enrolment, and with the Expression of Interest Form you are requested to submit two documents to support your residential address.

Please contact the Registrar at BSC for all enrolment queries on registrar@brightonsc.vic.edu.au

International Students
There is a separate procedure for International Students to enrol at the College. Please refer to the International Program information on our website here.

BSC A Capella group 'Minitonic'
Minitonic performed at the Inner South East Partnerships Assembly for the Department of Planning and Development in August. They performed with so much professionalism and poise, and as a result, have been invited by the Mayor to perform at the next Citizenship Ceremony in October.  This is a huge honor and we are very proud of the group and their voice teacher Ms Bradsworth!
